Meet Wings of Rescue, the Volunteer Pilots Giving At-Risk Pups a Second Chance
Somewhere in a shelter right now, a perfectly lovable dog is running out of time. Not because they aren’t adorable, smart, or ready to be someone’s best friend, but simply because the people who would love them most don’t know they exist yet.
That’s the gap Wings of Rescue was built to bridge. And their solution? Take to the skies!
What Is Wings of Rescue?
Wings of Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit made up of passionate volunteer pilots who fly at-risk dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters and disaster zones to partner rescues in communities where adoption demand is high. They don’t operate a traditional shelter facility, instead, they serve as a airborne lifeline, connecting dogs who are out of options with families who are ready and waiting to open their hearts.
The reality behind their mission is simple, but urgent: shelters in many parts of the South and West are so overwhelmed that healthy, adoptable animals face heartbreaking space constraints. Meanwhile, shelters in the Northeast, Pacific Northwest, and beyond often have empty kennels and long waiting lists of eager adopters.
Wings of Rescue closes that distance, one tail-wagging flight at a time.
Since launching, Wings of Rescue has safely transported nearly 100,000 at-risk pets across all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and beyond!
High-Flyers, Low-Stress: What Makes Their Flights Special
At DOGTV, we are big believers in stress-free travel for pets, and Wings of Rescue does it right!
This isn’t ordinary cargo transport. Every single Wings of Rescue mission operates on a fully pressurized, climate-controlled aircraft. The animals ride directly in the main cabin right alongside the crew, never in a cold cargo hold. Trained volunteers accompany the pups throughout the flight to keep them calm, safe, and comfortable.
Thanks to this VIP treatment, the pets arrive happy, relaxed, and ready for their next chapter. In fact, most of these lucky pups find their forever homes within days (or even hours!) of touching down.
Under the leadership of CEO Ric Browde, every mission is treated with the care and urgency these animals deserve.
Relief When Disaster Strikes 🐾
When natural disasters hit, Wings of Rescue steps up. Beyond relocating shelter pets, the organization delivers vital veterinary supplies and emergency relief to communities in crisis, from hurricane-impacted coastal areas to wildfire evacuation zones. Their aircraft double as mobile relief units, delivering help where it’s needed most.
